Vibrant and tart, Hibiscus Pods are a culinary treasure often steeped to prepare refreshing teas known for their deep crimson hue and citrus-like flavor. These pods, when split open, reveal fleshy, jewel-toned interiors that can also be utilized in a variety of dishes. The floral tang of Hibiscus Pods complements the sweet notes when used in jams, relishes, or glazes, and can also be a zesty addition to cocktails or mocktails. When dried, the pods retain their intense color and tangy taste, making them a visually stunning and mouthwatering ingredient for both sweet and savory culinary creations.
Fresh roselle calyces have a shelf life of 1–7 days in the refrigerator. It is recommended to consume them as quickly as possible for the best quality and flavor, or you can extend their life by drying or freezing them.
Nicolas Donck, a Belgium native, relocated to Georgia and started Crystal Organic Farm back in the mid-90's with a mission to grow healthy, organic produce. Many say he is singlehandedly responsible for introducing Atlantans to many plants of the endive and chicory varieties that were already popular in Belgium. Along the way, Nicolas helped found the Morningside Farmers Market and eventually met the love of his life, and now farm partner, Jeni Jarrard-Donck. Jeni brings an extensive knowledge of medicinal herb cultivation and usage to the partnership, making Crystal Organic one of the most well-rounded and diverse farms in the State.
