They took their original Bulls Bay Sea Salt and smoked it with oak cut from their homestead. The complex taste of these beautifully dark crystals are a delightful addition to chili, rice, grilled meat and fishes. It’s also a fantastic addition when lightly sprinkled on cold salads and cheeses.
Made with Solar Energy: Salt crystals are extracted from the pristine Bulls Bay and then solar evaporated, sifted, and packaged on the homestead.
Bulls Bay Saltworks is harvested from Bulls Bay, South Carolina, home to one of the healthiest saltwater ecosystems. This outstanding water collection site allows homesteader Teresa Smithmyer (and her team of local salt aficionados) produce a unique salt with natural purity and distinctive taste. Crafting salt from extremely clean water, in addition to using solar evaporation and filtering techniques, allows Smithmyer and her small team to offer a premium domestic sea salt with minimal carbon footprint.

Solar Evaporated Sea Salt
Homesteading on their urban-styled farm outside of Charleston, SC Rustin & Teresa Gooden have learned lessons in the value of keeping things small, slow and simple. Already deeply connected to the land as farmers, the two turned to the sea to begin collecting seaweed and algae to use as natural fertilizers and by-products from local fishing and shellfish industries to compost and enhance the soil.
