Bulls Bay Saltworks
Sustainably harvested salt from Bulls BayOn Memorial Day in 2012, SC Rustin & Teresa Gooden made their first batch of smoked sea salt making Bulls Bay Saltworks the first operational salt company in South Carolina since the Civil War, when the USS James Chambers destroyed the final saltern at Palmetto Point Bulls Bay on February 25, 1865.
Their team is still very small and every stage of salt production and packaging is done by hand, on site. The young visionaries are reviving old traditions and integrating innovative ideas to evaporate sea salt using solar power. They have a firm commitment to the environment and to quality products.
