Purple Top Turnips are marked by a vibrant gradient of color with regal purple cap blending into a creamy white base. Their medium-sized globes with crisp, firm flesh showcase a sweet, slightly tangy flavor that becomes increasingly mellow upon cooking. Ideal for roasting, braising, or mashing, these turnips can also be thinly sliced or julienned for a crunchy addition to salads and slaws. They complement hearty stews, can be pickled for a tangy side dish or served alongside meats for a balanced plate. Purple Top Turnips are nutritious, offering vitamin C, fiber, and potassium, making them a healthful component of any meal.

About the Producer
Hickory Hill Farm is all about family. Back in 1852, this 200+ acre plot was gifted to the family as part of a land grant for a relative's service in the Revolutionary War. Now the Certified Organic farm is run by Garry and Susan Shaw along with their daughter, Jennifer Johns, and her husband Josh. Altogether, four generations of the Shaw family are currently living on or working this plot of land. Not to mention their many chickens, hogs, sheep, cattle, and horses! Explore >
