The Fuyu Persimmon is a delightful autumn fruit, distinguishable by its squat, rounded shape and vibrant orange hue. The smooth, shiny skin encases a firm yet succulent flesh that is delicately sweet with a subtle honey-like flavor. Fuyu Persimmons are non-astringent and can be enjoyed while still firm to the touch, making them a user-friendly choice among persimmon varieties. They hold their shape well in cooking and baking and are equally enjoyable when eaten fresh, sliced into salads, or diced into salsas. Nutritious as well as delicious, Fuyu Persimmons are rich in vitamins A and C, dietary fiber, and antioxidants, contributing to their status as a healthful and versatile fruit.
Brothers Jimmy and Allen Miles started their farm in 1992 growing blueberries on 25 acres in Baxley, a small town in Southeast Georgia. They've since expanded their production to include strawberries, corn, and other organic produce, now grown on over 300 acres. Even though they now grow lots of other produce, there's still nothing like their plump and juicy blueberries!
