The Summer Dilemma
There are many unique and exciting challenges we get to overcome on our mission to create an ethical food hub for Atlanta.
But summer provides one of our most unique and biggest challenges:
We aim to provide stability for our farmers while maintaining flexibility for our customers.
Our customers’ vacation season is summer, while our farmers have their biggest and best harvests – and need us the most. We visited with Josh from Row by Rowe and got his thoughts on the topic. Read here!
What about you? If you read the blog post and have additional perspective, shoot us a note – we’d love to hear your thoughts on the topic. It’s a complex dilemma to be sure and we are in this together!
In the meantime – Welcome to summer produce season!

This Week’s Harvest
- Welcome Canewater Farm to the FH family! They’re located in the Georgia Low Country, just south of Savannah. Adirondack Blue Potatoes, Summer Squash Mix and Cucumbers are the first of many wonderful harvests from Canewater.
- Artichokes are here! Boil them or steam them, and dip the leaves in melted butter, salt, and lemon!
- It’s our second week with Georgia Blackberries! If you haven’t tried them yet be sure to stock up, either in you basket or by adding extra!
- Rhubarb makes an appearance in a few baskets this week from Fry Farm. As always, if it’s not in your basket, you can add it a la carte by searching for it in the shop! Okay… gotta go roll out my pie crust for this summer’s first strawberry rhubarb pie!
